Born and raised in Sofia, Bulgaria, iVo fell in love with drumming at the age of 7. By 13, he landed his first professional gig as a percussionist with the prestigious Youth Pioneer Philharmonic Orchestra, performing under the direction of world-renowned conductor Prof. Vladi Simeonov. His teenage years were spent touring internationally, playing major venues and festivals across Europe, North and South America—experiences that laid the foundation for his lifelong journey as a musician.
At 22, iVo moved to the United States and spent the next 30 years as a dedicated working drummer. From small clubs to large stages, he pursued every opportunity that challenged him musically and allowed him to grow. In 2002, his passion for teaching took shape when he joined the faculty at the Seattle Drum School, where he quickly became one of the school’s most in-demand instructors.
In 2009, iVo relocated to Los Angeles to launch Drum Lessons Los Angeles. Built on decades of real-world experience and a deep commitment to education, the school has become a trusted place for drummers of all levels to develop solid technique, timing, and musical confidence. At the core of iVo’s teaching is his unique Movement Method—a step-by-step approach that helps students gain control, consistency, and expressive freedom behind the kit.
